BUDDY SHARES HIS COOL LOOKS FOR SUMMER
Master cake baker, Buddy Valastro, from TLC's Cake Boss, knows how to make a cool cake. Check out his latest creations...
-
Tropical Flower Cake
- Follow the recipes to the right to bake and cover the cake in yellow fondant.
- Using a piping bag and a sea-shell tip, pipe a boarder around the base of the cake.
- Decorate using flowers (either fresh or sugar)
- To make sugar flowers, roll out fondant to paper thin, then use a petal cutter to cut out various designs and shapes of each flower. After they are cut, place them on a petal pad and use a ball tool to "texturize" each leaf. Place texturized leaf on a stem and layer petals to form your flower.

- Using a piping bag and a sea-shell tip, pipe boarder around the base of the cake.
- Using a sea-shell mold, press white fondant into the mold and take an impression.
- Once the fondant shells have been formed, paint using edible petal dust.
- Add some light brown sugar on top of the cake to serve as sand.
-
Tiki Cake
- Follow the recipes to the right to bake and cover the cake in white fondant.
- Take bamboo sticks and cut to about 3” and make a boarder around the cake. Bamboo sticks can be purchased, or you can form them using green and yellow fondant.
- Use modeling chocolate to sculpt a tiki face.
- To make the palm trees, roll out brown fondant and shape into the "trunk". Then use a texturing tool to create the bark impressions. For the leaves, use green fondant and a leaf mold and press out the leaves for the tree.
- For the pineapples, press white fondant into a pineapple mold, remove and paint.
